Diaper Rash: Prevention and Practical Treatment
BabyProduct Team · 5 Jul 2026
What causes it
Prolonged contact with moisture, friction, and the change in skin pH from urine and stool. It is extremely common and rarely a sign of poor care.
Prevention that works
Change often, let the skin dry fully before the next nappy, and use a barrier cream on skin that is prone to it.
Nappy-free time
Ten minutes on a towel a few times a day does more than most creams. Air is the best treatment there is.
When it needs a doctor
Bright red patches with satellite spots, blisters, open sores, or a rash that does not improve in a few days should be looked at — it may be a fungal infection needing different treatment.
