How to Choose the Right Diaper Size for Your Baby

Sizes go by weight, not months
Every brand prints a weight range on the pack — that number matters far more than your baby's age. Two babies born the same week can sit two sizes apart. Weigh your baby, then match the range.
If your baby's weight sits at the very top of a range, buy the next size up. Nappies at the edge of their range are the ones that leak.
Four signs the fit is wrong
Red marks around the thighs or waist mean the nappy is too small. Gaps you can slide a finger into mean it is too big.
Frequent leaks up the back usually mean you need a larger size, not a more absorbent one. And if the tabs meet in the middle, you have sized up too far.
Night nappies are a different job
Overnight nappies hold more liquid and are worth the extra rupees if mornings start with a full change of bedding. Many parents use a regular size by day and go one size up at night.
Rough guide by weight
Newborn: up to 5 kg. Small: 4–8 kg. Medium: 7–12 kg. Large: 9–14 kg. Extra large: 12 kg and above. Treat these as a starting point and check your specific pack.
